Ok, I just found out that I'm going to pretty much need a miracle to get into my psych course next year. My sister told me that they've cut the amount of stage one students by about half (from around 1000 to 500). Seeing as Psych is incredibly popular, it's going to fill up instantly.
This would be bad enough on its own, but basically I do Cambridge exams, and we don't get our results for a few days after NCEA does, and our applications are only assessed after our exam results are received.
This is just shit, because a whole lot of people take psych because they don't know what else to do, or they think it will be easy etc. This is my passion though, I don't want to do anything else. I also should have an advantage because I take pscyh in school (and am top in my year). But this probably won't matter. The people who get in first will be the people who left school early or took a gap year, then it will be the NCEA students, then the Cambridge ones.
I am seriously regretting not applying overseas, because I reckon I could have gotten into a decent UK university with AAB for A level and A for AS (the results I'm 95% sure I'll get). The NZ entry standard is DDD at A level.
